e Property Management recently went to the opening of The Sunshine Coast’s First ever Dual Living Display Home in the Forest Pines Estate built by Nu Trend Quality Homes. A fantastic 3 bed house which can be a great family home and a 2 bed unit which would be great for the grandparents or even a cheaper option for the kids that want their independance but can’t quite afford to move out. There are so many options with the Dual Key home. It works well as an investment property, you can live in one and rent the other or rent both properties.
As well as viewing this great home we were lucky enough to listen to a presentation by Kevin Doodney, CEO of The Future Housing Taskforce. It was a very interesting presentation, he used the following example to show how Dual living is the future of housing and how Dual Living Homes can play a part in housing for first home buyer and investors.
Example 1. The family homebuyer who is looking at a four bedroom home staring down repayments of over $600 plus $150 for running costs. This property may rent for $450 to $500 per week.
Example 2. The Dual Living home (5 bed), repayments of over $600 as above. The main residence may rent for $450 -$480 per week and $300 – $320 for the two bed unit.
A buyer wanting to pay less mortgage could reduce their payments by choocing option 2.
